Barclays New Futures

Barclays New Futures is the largest education sponsorship in the UK. Created by Kallaway, Barclays and Community Service Volunteers (CSV) this ten year, £10m project has benefited:

	1,000 schools across the country
	120,000 students
	350,000 members of the public
	Students from participating schools have taken part in over 100 conferences sharing their experiences and ideas with pupils from other schools
	Barclays staff took part in school projects and conferences
	Over 3,000 press articles and have been secured, all mentioning Barclays in a powerful local and positive manner.

The sponsorship was specifically created to meet the challenge of developing citizenship skills in young people and help them become more active in their communities. Long before Citizenship entered the National Curriculum, Barclays New Futures was helping young people develop skills for life and work through school and community projects.

	The DfES used Barclays New Futures as an example of best practice when it launched Citizenship into the Curriculum in 2002, using case studies of school projects to inspire teachers across the UK.

Barclays New Futures started in 1995 and concludes in 2006, with a celebratory conference taking place in November 2005.
