The London Bulgarian Choir

Bulgarians are born and die with music. There seems to be a special song - of joy, praise, lament - for every moment of a person's existence, turning life into a sacred ritual of sound and blessing. The richer and fuller the sound, the greater the vibration, the more powerful the blessing.

The London Bulgarian Choir takes you on a journey through those landscapes of ritual and voice, bringing the unique Bulgarian sounds, fiery rhythms and unusual harmonies to British audiences. Created in 2000 by Dessislava Stefanova, the Choir has members from all over the world united by their passion for Bulgarian singing.

"Led by the dazzling Dessislava Stefanova, this disciplined group deliver songs of love, war, hunting and seasonal cheer to stunning effect… I can say without fear of contradiction that if this group had put their hat in the ring (for the Radio 3 World Music Awards) they would have won outright." Michael Church, The Independent
