Tim Sutton
Tim studied Music under Tim Brown at Clare College,
Cambridge. He works primarily in theatre, his first appointment
being Musical Director for Marat/Sade at the Royal National
Theatre in 1997. He has since been involved with over
thirty different productions as composer, musical director
and pianist, including the highly respected Hymn to Love
- Homage to Piaf, which toured to the Traverse for the
Edinburgh Festival and was subsequently recorded for Radio
3. Most recently, he has written music for As You Desire
Me at the Playhouse, Women Beware Women for the Royal
Shakespeare Company, and the acclaimed West End production
of As You Like It at the Wyndham's Theatre, and acted
as Vocal Coach to Sienna Miller and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Tim began composing for choir whilst a chorister at
St Peter's Church in Nottingham. He is now artistic
director of the Children's Classical Chorus and an associate
of Susan Digby's Voce Chamber Choir, with whom he has
recently completed a tour of Tunisia. Quittez, pasteurs,
published by Novello in 2005, was the first of a series
of Christmas anthems composed for the London Concert
Choir. He was the Chorus Master for BBC2's opera, The
Little Prince, and will fulfil the same role in Raymond
Gubbay's new production of Showboat at the Royal Albert
Hall this summer. He is thrilled to be undertaking his
first year's involvement with BBC Radio 3 Choir of the
Year.
