Circuit 16 Youth Choir, Bristol
Circuit 16 Youth Choir was formed in 1996 by their conductor,
Cara Clark. The purpose of the choir was to give children
in the local community of Kingwood, Bristol the chance
to come together and enjoy singing. The numbers quickly
grew and the success of the choir led to a junior training
choir being formed in 2000. Circuit 16 now has over 100
members in the combined choirs who come from a wide area
within South Gloucestershire.
The Youth Choir is non-auditioned, as Cara believes that
all children should be given the opportunity to learn
to sing. The choir rehearse once a week and the members
range in age from 10 - 18 years.
Circuit 16 has enjoyed taking part in various competitions
and has won the Bournemouth International Music Festival
Choir of the Year in 1999 and 2001. The choir was awarded
Sainsbury's Youth Choir of the Day on two occasions as
well as BBC Radio 3 Children's Choir of the Day 2004.
They have appeared on Anglia and South West television
and won the junior title in the HTV 'Sing Out' competition
in 2000.
The choir also enjoy socialising together from residential
trips to barbeques and theme parks. Even the odd social
at Cara's house - yes, all 50 of them!
Circuit 16 has wonderful support from families and friends
as well as their local community. The choir are always
in great demand to perform and do much to raise money
for projects and charities.
