The
Competition
Choir of the Year is the UK's largest singing competition,
was launched in 1984 and created by Kallaway to provide
a nationwide shop window for the best of amateur singing
groups. Since the competition began 120,000 singers from
over 2,000 choirs have taken part , singing in front of
live audiences totalling nearly 75,000 people. Open to
all, the competition is free and is hoped will encourage
participation in singing across all age groups and local
communities.

This year Choir of the Year is sponsored by BBC Radio
3 and gives choirs and vocal groups the opportunity
to sing on stage at the world class Wales Millennium
Centre and to appear on both BBC Radio and TV.
