Melisma from St Margaret's School, Exeter

St Margaret's School, Exeter combines an excellent academic record with national recognition for Music and Drama.

The choir numbers 36 and ranges from 13-18 in age. It rehearses twice a week amidst the demands of netball, hockey, Duke of Edinburgh scheme, Ten Tors, CCF and a myriad of other opportunities at school. The girls in the choir are dedicated, enthusiastic and very funny, often reducing rehearsals to moments of hysterical laughter.

The girls of St Margaret's have recorded three CDs including a Christmas CD in aid of Hospiscare, and give many performances in the South West to help raise money for charity, including two recent performances for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund, sharing a programme with the world-famous Morriston Orpheus Choir.

Semi-Finalists in the 2005 BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Competition, Melisma also has also received Outstanding Performance Awards at the Finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth Competition in July 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

The Choir was also invited to perform in the Schools' Proms in the Royal Albert Hall in November 2002 and performed there again in November 2005.

The choir was also chosen as one of three finalists in BBC1's Songs of Praise Celebrate Festival, televised in 2003.
