Stuart Barr

Musical director, vocal coach and member of the British Voice Association, Stuart studied at the Purcell School of Music; Magdalene College, Cambridge; and the Royal College of Music.

As a musical director, his work is as diverse as co-devising Gyles Brandreth's Zipp! 100 Musicals For Less Than The Price Of One, and It's Almost Like Being In Love (National Theatre). He has supervised/orchestrated various national and international productions such as On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, and Sondheim's Passion (Bridewell Theatre), Jesus Christ Superstar (Frankfurt), and Rent and Blood Brothers (Seoul, S.Korea).

Concert conducting includes tours of A Viennese Operetta Gala and Abba, the Concert. He has been a guest conductor of the Ekaterinburg Philharmonic in Russia; and has conducted in places as diverse as the Cardiff Millennium Centre, open-air in Barbados, and in Washington D.C.

As a freelance West End vocal coach and singing teacher, he coaches at the Actors' Centre, the Royal Academy of Music and privately. He coached the children's voices on the BBC's The Little Prince, later going on to coach the treble Joseph McManners, for his debut album for Sony In Dreams.
