Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean, attracts over 2m tourists annually, of these visitors almost 50 per cent are from the UK – by far the largest proportion from any one country.
As the CTO’s UK PR agency Kallaway is involved with all aspects of press liaison for this highly important market, from monthly trade and consumer press releases, a quarterly news letter, radio and TV coverage and a pre-agreed number of group and individual press trips.
Kallaway has initiated a programme to develop press interest in areas beyond the island’s established reputation as a beach holiday destination, exploring new developments such as agrotourism, Cypriot wine, spa breaks and rural getaways and seeking to establish a stronger reputation with ABC publications.
Since starting work with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation at the beginning of 2011;
Over 20 journalists have visited the island, with 100% positive coverage.
Almost 100 stories have been secured in titles such as easyJet Traveller, The Times, The Metro and Red Magazine, with a print readership of 300,000 and online coverage close to 60m.
Episodes dedicated to Cyprus have been secured on two different series on the Travel Channel while radio interviews have reached almost 2m listeners
