Entry And Selection
Who can enter
The Linbury Biennial Prize for Stage Design
2005 is open to final year students and
graduates from 2004 from Theatre Design
degree or postgraduate courses as recognised
by the Society of British Theatre Designers
or the Association of Courses in Theatre
Design. The Society of British Theatre Designers
lists its approved courses on its website:

30 June 2005. See below:
Selection process
Selection is made over the following stages:
- Applications May
to June 2005
Applicants' portfolios are received at
the offices of Kallaway Ltd (2 Portland
Road, Holland Park, W11 4LA) until 30
June.
- First Round
Judging
7 July
Judging by submitted portfolio. Candidates
through to second round notified.
- Second Round Judging 18
- 19 July
Approximately 40 short listed candidates
present portfolios to designer judges
at the National Theatre. Up to 24 are
selected to return.
- Designers' Day 29
July
Twenty four candidates present their portfolios
to the artistic directors of the four
commissioning companies at National Theatre.
Twelve candidates are selected to work
with the commissioning companies.
- Commissioning Companies Placements
29 July - November
The 12 candidates work with the commissioning
companies on their designs for that company's
chosen forthcoming production.
- National Theatre Exhibition November
The 12 candidates display their work in
the Lyttelton Circle Foyer, National Theatre,
for one month. During this time various
events are held around the exhibition
enabling the media and leaders from theatre
and the performing arts to view the designs.
- Announcing the winners
November
At the National Theatre exhibition a special
event is held to announce the overall
Linbury Biennial Prize winner and the
designers who will see their work realised
with the commissioning companies
