National Youth
Theatre
The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain
(NYT) is a charitable body that educates,
entertains and inspires young people from
diverse backgrounds across the UK, from
the ages of 13 to 21. Using drama training
alongside mainstream education or as an
alternative to formal education, NYT seeks
to ensure that young people across the country
are offered the opportunity to fulfil their
potential.
NYT's philosophy is that participation in
creative cultural activities gives young
people the tools to discover their voices,
describe their experiences and seize opportunities
for change, making a real difference to
their lives. NYT is much more than just
a theatre company. They are a vibrant centre
of innovation and creativity, encouraging
young people of all backgrounds to develop
their artistic talents. It provides them
with platforms for their work on stage,
film, radio and online, and also acts as
an educational centre for life, after which
young people can go on to succeed in whatever
path they choose to follow.
