Prix Pictet

The Prix Pictet is a new major new global prize in photography and the first to focus on sustainability. The award is sponsored by Swiss private bank, Pictet & Cie.

The Prix Pictet short-list will be announced on 12 July 2008. Full press information and shortlisted images will available on this website from this date.

The short-listed images will be displayed on the Prix Pictet website www.prixpictet.com and members of the public will be invited to cast their votes for the image that in their opinion has the artistic quality and power of expression demanded by the Prix. These votes will be taken into consideration by the jury when they make their final decision in October 2008.

Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General is Prix Pictet Honorary President. Dr Gro Harlem Brutland, Special Envoy on Climate Change to the Secretary General of the United Nations and author of the ground breaking 1987 UN report on sustainable development, has endorsed the Prize.

Francis Hodgson, Head of Photographs, Sotheby’s leads internationally recognised panel of experts who will judge the Prize. The judges include Richard Misrach, the American environmental photographer; Abbas Kiarostami, the Iranian film director; Régis Durand, President of Paris Photo and former head of the Jeu de Paume; Loa Haagen Pictet, Pictet & Cie’s art consultant and Leo Johnson Co-Founder, Sustainable Finance.
