Prix Pictet - Kofi Annan

Prix Pictet

The Prix Pictet, created and sponsored by private bank Pictet & Cie, is the world’s first photography competition to explore issues of environmental damage and sustainability on an international scale. The property was developed to use the power of photography to communicate environmental messages to a global audience.

Kallaway was appointed to launch and position Prix Pictet as the world’s leading prize in photography and the theme of sustainability through media activity in the UK, Europe and key international media.

Working closely with the shortlisted photographers and former UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, we secured features that explored issues of environmental damage captured through the competition’s powerful images.

Partnerships with the FT and BBC provided additional opportunities to take Prix Pictet messages into board rooms and communities across world. Rolling contact meetings between the competition organisers and international journalists, critics and environment writers established regular media insight into the competition and its aims.

Kallaway’s PR campaign secured over 160 stories in titles around the world, clearly positioning the Prize as a world leading and reforming initiative. Coverage included 24 stories in the UK national media, including The Times, Sunday Times, Telegraph, Guardian and FT. International coverage included BBC World, BBC World Service, La Monde2, Metro Montreal, Monocle, BJP and Hotshoe, to name a few.

"It is not impossible that, with enough talent and energy and tenacity, the prize might not only use the establishment, but in time reform it. It is enormously ambitious, but I think it could work."

The Times.
