River and Rowing Museum
Event Listings Summer to Winter '07

…Children's Holiday Entertainment…New Exhibitions…
Look Back in Time…Talks by Sporting Greats…River History…

22 August, 2007: The River and Rowing Museum - www.rrm.co.uk - Henley On Thames, has unveiled its summer, autumn and winter exhibitions and events that include summer holiday entertainment for children and families, new exhibitions and opportunities for sporting enthusiasts.

Highlights include:

Fragments from the Foreshore, a striking display of contemporary photography of objects revealed or washed up in the foreshore of the tidal Thames. From medieval wine flasks to Victorian shoes and World War II bottle tops, the exhibition provides an insight into the region's history and culture and the opportunity to talk to local people about their memories of the Thames.
From Redgrave To Vancouver: Mike Spracklen, one of the world's most successful rowing coaches gives an insightful and very funny account of his time with some of the sport's best teams - including coaching Redgrave and Pinsent to gold at the last Olympics. Mike will be available for interview prior to the event.
The Longest River of Drawing: Be part of the Big Draw, a UK wide celebration of drawing - by helping create the longest drawing of a river. Fuel your imagination with some of the River and Rowing Museum exhibits such as the ancient Saxon Logboat (405 - 530AD) or the ultra-modern rowing boat from the Sydney Olympics in which Britain won gold.

The wide range of events and exhibitions reflect the Museum's core themes of exploring the past, present and future of the River Thames, the historic riverside community of Henley-on-Thames and the international sport of rowing.

These themes and the varied mix of events prove hugely popular and over 90,000 people visited the Museum last year. The Museum also has an active education department with over 14,000 pupils visiting every year on school visits.

Peter McConnell, Marketing Manager, The River and Rowing Museum said: "We continue to demonstrate that the River and Rowing Museum is so much more than rowing and our forthcoming exhibitions, events and wider activities reflect this: For example, RRM Funtime is all about engaging youngsters with their environment, while Fragments from the Foreshore provides a unique view of the past not only of the Thames but also the local communities it serves."
