Ruth Hinkel-Pevzner: The Car

The Car is a new solo exhibition by artist Ruth Hinkel-Pevzner. The five-screen film installation will inhabit the ground floor of the disused Nicholls and Clarke Building in Shoreditch High Street from 1-26 May 2008.

Hinkel-Pevzner uses material sourced from the Russian State Film Archives to present us with a perceptive study of memory and longing. Shown across five centrally hung screens, it invites the viewer to move through the space and experience the intricate layers of narrative and film.

Using her distinctive voiceovers to recall an emotional journey, the artist seeks to use personal and particular experiences to express something that is universal to us all.
