Unicorn in More London

The Unicorn Theatre is located on Tooley Street within the More London development, part of the Foster and Partners master plan for the area. 

The following paragraphs provide an overview of More London, the Capital’s newest central business district and home to City Hall and the Unicorn Theatre for Children.

More London is a range of striking riverside buildings between London Bridge and Tower Bridge on the South Bank, opposite the Tower of London - a World Heritage Site

More London is 13 acres in size and has planning consent for three million square feet of mixed use space, of which up to two million square feet will be Grade A offices, accommodating up to 20,000 people.
 
More London provides an exciting mixed use community with world class commercial facilities, retail, leisure, and public art fronting onto the River Thames set in contemporary designed landscaping and public open spaces.

Public spaces and landmark buildings
More London currently comprises two new public squares, 'the Scoop' (a 800 seat open-air amphitheatre), a new pedestrian route linking London Bridge Station with Tower Bridge and the River Walk, and five landmark buildings:

City Hall, the headquarters of the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority
1 More London Place, the European headquarters of international business advisors Ernst and Young
6 More London Place, the European headquarters of international human resources consultancy Hewitt Associates
2 More London Riverside, leased to Actis/Aureos/Globeleq, Visit London, Terra Firma Capital Partners and Cargill Investor Services
Unicorn Theatre for Children, The UK's first purpose built profestional theatre for children. Designed by Keith Williams Architects and set to play to over 100,000 children per year when it opens in late 2005.

International law firms Norton Rose and Lawrence Graham have selected 3 and 4 More London Riverside, in each case, as their new international headquarters.

Construction commenced in November 2004 on the 245-bed hotel pre-let to the Hilton Group, the London Hilton Tower Bridge.

Transport
Located within the central Zone 1 travel district, More London is a traffic-free environment with a dedicated, security-controlled underground road network providing vehicular access to visitor drop-off, goods reception areas and car parks to all buildings.

It is equidistant in time (9 minutes) from Canary Wharf and Mayfair and an 11-minute walk from the Bank of England (3 minutes by Tube).

Landscaping and public art
More than half of the estate (i.e. 6.5 acres) is public open space. More London Place and More London Riverside are two new public squares equivalent in size to Hanover Square and Parliament Square respectively.

More London Place features a diagonal pedestrian route, animated with public art and water features, which has opened up a new landmark view of Tower Bridge.

The key components of the landscaping in the new public areas, plazas and walkways - the trees, paving, water features, lighting and seating - are designed to provide a diversity of spaces.
